Sources & comparison method

Each region links to the official public ChatGPT Apple App Store listing (app ID 6448311069). We record the displayed in-app purchase name, local amount, currency and observation time. Go and Pro monthly cadence is matched to OpenAI’s Go documentation and Pro tier documentation. No third-party subscription tracker or authenticated purchase data is used.

Apple’s public page does not expose each product’s billing period. A unique exact plan-name listing is matched to the documented monthly plan; this is a documented inference, not checkout verification. Multiple same-name prices are marked ambiguous and excluded. In particular, observed Plus listings contain multiple prices; we do not select the smallest and assume it is monthly. Official Plus documentation. Abbreviated amounts or unrecognized currency formats are also excluded until verified. Not observed does not mean the plan is unavailable for purchase.

USD estimates use Frankfurter daily blended reference rates from central banks and official sources. The USD base rate is inverted to convert the local price. FX check time and the underlying rate date are shown separately; checking hourly does not create an hourly market rate. USD records use an identity rate of 1. Taxes are unknown; store region, eligibility and final checkout totals may differ.

“vs US” compares the same monthly plan on Apple App Store. If the US monthly amount is ambiguous or missing, no comparison is shown. Rankings use USD estimates rounded to cents; ties share a rank, with ISO code used only for a stable display order. Local-price sorting groups currencies before sorting amounts. The lowest result is among comparable monitored records only.

Freshness & history

Target check cadence is every 12 hours for storefronts and every hour for FX. Actual successful check times are shown above; delayed or failed checks can leave an older snapshot. A fresh snapshot requires successful checks within 13 hours for prices and 2 hours for FX, with an FX rate date no more than 4 days old (allowing weekends). Failed updates retain the last successful observations. The header shows the oldest price check among comparable records; a note explains unsuccessful or overdue checks, with per-region errors under Update details. The hourly collector and publication are separate: the site changes only after a validated snapshot is published.

Only changes to the local amount or currency are storefront price changes. A USD-only difference is an FX change. The first observation has no invented comparison history. Subscription vs API

A ChatGPT subscription pays for the plan’s access and usage allowance in ChatGPT and eligible products. It does not include separately billed API token usage. An API workload is charged using model, token, caching and processing rates. These region observations do not mean API token prices differ by country.

Use the API calculator for API costs and confirm subscription terms on the official plan and storefront pages. There is no direct token-for-token conversion between a subscription and an API budget.
